I Write Fiction

…or at least I am trying to. I have idea documents and/or prologues for several ideas hidden away in my Google Drive that, no, I will not let you see unless I decide to properly write them. One of these, though, I have started writing and will be posting on here. You can find the synopsis and chapter list here: Why They Sleep The first one will be out tomorrow, and after that I’ll be aiming to post once per week. Don’t get your hopes up, I am not at all confident in my ability to consistently complete one chapter per week, but I will be trying my best and…

I HAVE RETURNED

Hello again! I have no good reason for having not posted for so long. I made this blog for the times when I find something interesting to the point I not only want to share it, but feel I have a fair amount to say in regards to it as well and thus simply sharing on Twitter and Facebook isn’t enough. Basically what happened was that after my last post I didn’t come across anything particularly eye-catching for a while and eventually it slipped my mind that I even have a blog to post on!  But now I have remembered, and I have found not one but TWO things to write…

Books Are Good

Those of you who know me personally should know that I love reading fiction, especially crime/mystery, sci-fi, and fantasy/magic. I am a firm believer that reading, both fiction and non-fiction alike, is entirely necessary for everyone. It encourages imagination, creativity, grammar and spelling, critical thinking, and increases knowledge – all of which is essential for growing children to be the best they can be. Not to mention sitting down with a proper book for a few hours is an ideal way to relax, and in this digital age where children are having touch-screen smartphones as their first mobile before they’re even teenagers and toddlers are playing with their parents’ tablets…

Anita Sarkeesian Somehow Attends E3, Attacks The Wrong Character

E3, Anita, & Rise

So somehow the hypocritical, donation-bait, lying, backstabbing feminazi Anita Sarkeesian got herself invited to E3, possibly the biggest gaming convention in the world, despite being a poisonous, destructive, hateful bundle of double-standards and self-imposed privilege in the world of gaming. While there, she took a fence at her name badge, and that’s funny because not only is the attached promotional image entirely appropriate to the game it’s advertising, but the character’s back-story in the series is actually something that should resonate with Sarkeesian’s agenda – assuming said agenda is legitimate, and she has even the slightest ounce of integrity and credibility. And I’m not going to bother talking about how she…

The Perfect Valentine’s Day

After a tense morning of watching Roger (my DPD delivery driver) not move or progress from his first delivery on the tracking page map, this gloriousness arrived a little after half 2 yesterday afternoon. It came with a free charger, too, as a pre-order bonus seeing as the consoles don’t come with one any more. Needless to say I was excited to get playing but, alas, I was at work and so decided to settle for letting the data transfer do its thing, ready for some serious Monster Hunting after work. My old 3DS has a 16GB SD card and the 3DS Advance (“new Nintendo 3DS” is a stupid name and I…

Hack Your JavaScript Code in Chrome!

Two things to cover quickly in this one. Firstly, I made a darker theme for Dev Tools. By “made” I mean I cobbled together a bunch of stuff other people already did, and used someone else’s instructions to port it to the format Chrome requires it to be in. Hurray for me! Check the repo for a screenshot – or look at the image at the bottom of this post – and if you’re happy with that theme you can grab it from the Chrome Web Store to get updates and stuff automatically. If you want to tweak or replace the colours you’ll need to either clone the repo or grab…

Tiny House!

This is great. Unlike most tiny houses, this doesn’t look like a glorified caravan or American trailer home! As far as physical space goes, this is pretty much perfect for me. So long as there’s water, electric and decent Internet I could live very happily in something like this.

Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu!

That one line is pretty much the entire show.

They actually made a show about how having twintails can give you super powers. The main character is a guy who you could quite literally bribe into doing anything for pictures of cute girls with twintails, and would definitely become a slave to pretty much anyone who would let him play with their twintails. He saves girls with twintails from having their love of twintails, or “twintail attribute,” stolen by an alien race who seem to want to use it as some kind of power source for something. How does he save them? This is a picture of him. He transforms into a young girl with massive twintails wearing armour…

Want to go straight to the latest episode of a show on iPlayer? Here’s how!

One thing that always annoyed me about iPlayer is that the shows don’t have a “home page” as such: a page dedicated to that show which lists all its available episodes under a constant URL you can bookmark. Well, since the redesign they actually have TWO alternatives you can bookmark! Direct to Latest Episode:  find the series you’re interested in on the A-Z Programme List right-click > copy the link address this should give you something like: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/brand/b006q2x0 that’s the one for Doctor Who, by the way bookmark the page you’re on, edit the bookmark to point to the address you copied! List of Available Episodes: follow the same steps as above…

PHP_DDNS – my latest project

While I generally like having no set topic for this blog due to the freedom it gives me over what and when to write, it also means there’s pretty much no chance of regularity to my posts. As you may have noticed, I haven’t posted anything on here for a while and it’s not because I’m incredibly busy – I just haven’t felt the urge to write about anything recently. Well, that changes today. The other day I came across a project called Remonit which is aiming to be the go-to tool for geek-types wanting to have real-time, web-accessible stats on pretty much anything on their devices – from netbooks to…
